We thought it a good idea to give everyone a quick overview on things since we all got together last summer.
AGM- We held our AGM, discussed a number of issues including electing new committee, subscriptions for next year and other good stuff.
One of the key points that come out of was to create another team to take part in the SNL league on Saturday’s. So with us getting promoted as runners up last season we now have one team in Division 4 and one in Division 5.
It would be good at this stage to thank Artnell for all his hard work during the year as Chairman and although he is not carrying on that duty this year we all expect a better year this year with the bat! Sounds like a challenge J
For the ones that didn’t attend the end of year bash you missed a great night, hopefully this year you and your families can make it.
Player handbook- We are looking to supply all our players with a handbook which will contain fixtures for the year as well as other useful information. If you don’t object we want to publish player and non player contact details. We plan to publish during March, if you have any objections to your details being added then please tell Steve or Mark by end of February.
2007 Fixtures- We plan to have at least 2 friendly games before the season starts; I know Tony is hard at work getting these arranged. Our confirmed league fixtures for the forth coming Saturday SNCL league can be found on the website through the fixtures link.
We also plan to have a series of 20/20 matches during the season; 2 of these will be against PwC.
If you want to play any Sunday friendly games then please us know so we can get numbers together and get the games scheduled.
As we write this article we anticipate playing again at Collingtree for the whole season.
Subscriptions- At the AGM it was voted upon that we should continue to charge the same annual subscription for the season, namely £60 for adults and £30 for under 16 and people who either are in full or part time education. This is due on or after the 1st February 2007. If you want to make arrangements with Julie to pay in instalments then please contact her directly. As we have a lot of expenditure around this time we would like as many people to have coughed (or made other arrangements) by the 15th March. Any deferred payments will be kept totally confidential.
Again nets prices are the same as last year. £5 per session for each adult. £2.50 for under 16 and the tax dodgers!
Match fees are as last year as well. £5 per adult and £3 for under 16 and other tax dodgers.
Notification of availability- To make picking the teams this season easier than last you need ensure you tell us your availability by the Monday for the next Saturday. It will be up to you to tell us if you can play and not up to the captains to chase you. Once we have worked out the best way of doing this we will add this to the player manual, you have been warned!
Nets- You already have received emails from Steve about the dates and times.
Please be aware that the nets can be a dangerous place to be if you don’t have your wits about you. We had some close calls last year; please make sure we don’t have any claret spilt this year.
Summer outdoor nets?- During the close season we have secured a portable mobile net that at the minute is sitting in pieces at Collingtree but fear not, when the weather turns it will be erected (oh er) and left behind the pavilion for any members (oh er x2) to wheel onto the wicket. It will need at least 2 people to move it; it has wheels at one end.
Coaching?- We are not all Freddie Flintoffs, (thank god after the Ashes nightmare) but a number of people are in the process of attending coaching courses primarily for the kids but I know they will only be too willing to pass on their knowledge, speak to Steve for more info. Perhaps we can use 1 net for this during practice?
GPCC Shirts- If you are a new player or need a bigger size due to over exuberance at Christmas then call Mark to arrange, again Let 2 Invest are sponsoring us so we will be able to subsidise again this year.
GPCC Caps- PwC are again sponsoring us so we will offering these to all players for ridiculously cheap price of £5, call Mark if you want one. They will have our logo on the front and the PwC on the side.
Scorers- We need 2 scorers for next year, enthusiasm before knowledge is required. If you know of anyone that can help then speak to Steve
Junior Teams- If you have kids that want to play or know of anyone then speak to Steve who is helping develop the junior side of things.
2007 tour? - Ian Peterson is looking for hardened drinkers that can hold a bat for a summer tour; I know he has a numbers of recruits already. If you want to know more then contact Ian for will fill you in.
Want to be club committee person? - We have a vacancy as our club social secretary. If you want to get involved and help organise some activities during the year then please speak to Steve.
Finally it just leaves me to say have a great pre season. If you have any other questions, observations or comments then keep them to yourself, no not really speak to Stevie who will take them on board.
Thanks Steve Cates
